Donating 50 pairs of shoes to a homeless shelter is an act of kindness that deserves as much recognition as any charitable contribution. But it was an extra pair of shoes -- on top of those 50 -- that makes Tim Tebow the guy that he is.

According to Clayton Klapper of ABC15 Arizona, the former NFL quarterback and minor league ballplayer visited St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix with the plan of giving out 50 brand new pairs of kicks for the needy residents of the homeless shelter. It went well, but 50 pairs turned out not to be enough to cover everyone's needs.

When he realized that one resident was still left without shoes after the 50 pairs had been doled out, he literally removed the shoes off of his own feet to help out that guest and took down a list of everyone else who was left empty handed (or "footed") and sent them all to St. Vincent de Paul.

It's another charitable act from Tebow, a person whose acts of generosity we've grown used to over the years. Still, moments like these deserve extra recognition.

"If you ask me, or many of our guests, Tim has gone from professional athlete to Super Hero in just a few years," St. Vincent de Paul CEO Steve Zabilski said. "His actions off the field are as impressive as any last-minute touchdown pass, or game-winning home run. I think we all can agree on that."

Outside of his random acts of kindness, the Tim Tebow Foundation works to fight against human trafficking among other issues around the world, and is just one of the many philanthropic ventures that Tebow has undertaken.
