Huntington Beach All-County water polo attacker Ryder Dodd and Servite All-SoCal goalie Joey Kent — both sophomores — have transferred to JSerra.

Dodd, a second-team All-County selection for the CIF Open Division runner-up Oilers last season, confirmed the completion of his transfer on Friday.

Kent, a second-team All-Southern California pick in Division 2, is expected to begin classes at JSerra on Thursday.

Dodd helped Huntington Beach capture the Surf League and S & R Sport tournament. The speedy, 6-foot attacker was one of the Oilers’ primary defenders but also finished second in goals with 72.

His brother Chase was The Register’s player of the year in the spring of 2021 and now plays at UCLA.

The 6-foot-1 Kent split time with junior Tanner McCreary last season, helping the Friars earn the No. 1 seed in Division 2 and advance to the semifinals.

JSerra placed second to Mater Dei in the Trinity League and lost to Harvard-Westlake in the first round of the Open Division playoffs.

The Lions’ roster included transfer senior Alex Makshanoff from San Clemente and junior Mason Presley of Laguna Hills. Makshanoff has committed to Long Beach State.

Prior to last season, JSerra lost left-hander Conor Brough, part of its CIF Division 4 title team in 2019, to a transfer to Orange Lutheran.
