CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A 112 year tradition in Cincinnati, the Thanksgiving Day run brings thousands of people downtown to get their cardio in for a good cause before enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner.

It's a 10k run so about a 6 mile loop through Cincinnati and into Newport.

One runner sporting a fun pie hat said it was a light night and an early morning.

The run is a family event for many, including Governor Mike DeWine. He and Fran were here with 21 family members.

The First Lady was the official starter of the race and said she has a 35 pound turkey in the oven back home.

The race was virtual last year, so this is the first year back during the pandemic.

The race benefits nine area charities including Big Brothers Big Sisters' and the Alzheimer's Association.
