The Bills safety wants to give back after suffering cardiac arrest a month ago.

On Jan. 2, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after collapsing on the field against the Cincinnati Bengals. He received an outpour of support from players and fans, and now wants to return the favor to the medical staff that ultimately saved his life.

Hamlin recently announced a collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA) for the “Damar Hamlin 3 for Heart” challenge. He called upon LeBron James, Tom Brady and Michelle Obama to help him.

“CPR saved my life earlier this year on the field, and could easily save your life or someone you love,” Hamlin said. “That’s why I’m proud to announce that I’m partnering with the American Heart Association and kicking off ‘Damar Hamlin’s Three for Heart CPR Challenge.’”

James, who played for the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014, expressed his support for Hamlin after his game against the Charlotte Hornets.

"My thoughts and super prayers are up to the skies above for that kid's family, for him, for the brotherhood of the NFL and everybody a part of the NFL family,” James said. “It's definitely the right call by whoever had the authority to make that call to suspend the game. The safety of players in all sports is always the most important. It was a terrible thing to see.”

Brady also shared his sentiments for Hamlin around the time of the incident.

“We all have a lot of heartfelt thoughts for him,” Brady said. “He’s obviously a great young man and we hope he recovers.”

Now, Brady and James can use their platform to help Hamlin’s cause.

Those who want to support Hamlin can go to heart.org/3 to learn about conducting hands-only CPR. The next steps are to donate to the AHA and educate those around them about the importance of CPR.
