Tickets were going for as much as $70,000 Tuesday night at the Crypto.com Arena, formerly known as The Staples Center, in order to watch LeBron James break surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader.
The stars were in the stands, as Abdul-Jabbar was on hand as well as Bad Bunny, Jay Z, Denzel Washington, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Dwyane Wade among many others watched as James would go on to score 38 points in a Laker loss.
James needed just 36 to surpass the all-time record, and as you could imagine, social media erupted following his fadeaway jumper to give him the record. People across the world tweeted their props to James, with names Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Rihanna, and Drake offering support.
A notable name in the Colorado Buffs world that made sure to give King James his props, was head coach Deion Sanders.
While Sanders never hooped professionally and James, despite having a chance to play football professionally during the NBA lockout, never graced an NFL field, it is amazing to see greatness recognize greatness.
