Syracuse, N.Y. — Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo his older brother, Thanasis, will join Central New York businessman Adam Weitsman at the Carrier Dome for Saturday’s game between Syracuse and Wake Forest.

Weitsman confirmed Monday afternoon that the two NBA champions will sit beside him in his courtside seats this weekend to root for the Orange.

“It’s going to be really great and they’re going to cheer on the team,” Weitsman told syracuse.com. “Giannis didn’t go to a college so we want to make Syracuse his favorite.”

Weitsman, who has a history of bringing celebrities and professional athletes to Syracuse, said he became friends with Thanasis on social media and was then introduced to Giannis. He’s also friends with one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ minority owners.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a five-time NBA All-Star and earned back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards in 2019 and 2020, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James as the only players in NBA history to win two MVP awards before turning 26. Last season, he led the Bucks to their first NBA championship since 1971 and was named Finals MVP after averaging 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks in six games against the Phoenix Suns.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo, 29, joined the Bucks in 2019, reuniting with his younger brother after playing professional basketball in Greece for two years. He averages 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.9 minutes off the bench for the Bucks.

Weitsman said he and the Antetokounmpo brothers will go to dinner on Saturday night before the game. After the game, Giannis and Thanasis will fly back to Milwaukee for the Bucks’ game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. The Bucks play the New York Knicks in Milwaukee on Friday.

“(Giannis) is not out-and-about much, so for him to come (to Syracuse), it’s great,” Weitsman said.

Weitsman partnered with Barstool Sports and held a contest for three Syracuse fans to earn first- and second-row seats for Saturday’s game, access to Weitsman’s personal suite inside the Carrier Dome, dinner at Weitsman’s restaurant in Skaneateles and a chance to meet the Antetokounmpo brothers.

“Us being Upstate, we don’t get a lot of people that come to visit like the major cities,” Weitsman said when asked of his motivation to bring celebrity guests to Syracuse. “Everybody bleeds orange like crazy. They love these teams, football and basketball, and the Carrier Dome is a lot of fun. We’re not sitting in some private seat. And that’s the key. I want them to be accessible to the fans.”

Giannis and Thanasis are Weitsman’s first high-profile guests to attend a game in the Carrier Dome since the 2019-20 season when he brought Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Jimmy Fallon to watch the Orange take on North Carolina.
