Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball underwent successful surgery in New York to repair a fracture in his right wrist Tuesday, a source confirmed to WCNC Charlotte's Ashley Stroehlein.

Ball's initial diagnosis revealed a fracture bone in his right wrist. He suffered the injury against the Los Angeles Clippers on March 20 and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

According to a source close to situation, Ball will have a four-week recovery time before he can begin rehab.

Ball, who recently won back-to-back Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Awards in January and February, ranks first in assists and steals, second in scoring and is tied for second in rebounds among rookie leaders.

LaMelo is currently averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.59 steals per game in 41 contests.

The Hornets are currently the No. 6 team in the Eastern Conference. They will visit Houston Wednesday night before returning to Charlotte for a weekend home stand against Miami and Phoenix.
