On Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced an update on LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers have played their last 12 games without their best player LeBron James.

With the four-time NBA Champion out of the lineup, they have been able to keep themselves afloat in the standings and are 6-4 in their last ten games (and in the middle of a two-game winning streak).

On Thursday, the team announced an update on James (via ESPN's Dave McMenamin).

McMenamin: "LeBron James continues his on-court activity and is on a "gradual basketball movement progression," the Lakers said on Thursday. There is no specific timeline for his return to game action, according to the team."

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski also followed up with his own reporting.

Via Wojnarowski: "There’s an increasing optimism that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James could return to play “a few” games in the final week of the regular season, sources tell ESPN. James has been out since suffering a right foot tendon injury on February 26."

James had been having an excellent season with averages of 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists per contest in 47 games (while shooting 50.1% from the field).

He is in his fifth season with the Lakers (20th in the league) and led them to the 2020 NBA Championship over the Miami Heat.

Right now, the Lakers are the tenth seed (the final play-in tournament spot) in the Western Conference with a 36-37 record in 73 games.

They will play their next game on Friday night when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder in California.
