As the NBA family continues to mourn the loss of beloved Knicks legend Willis Reed, Magic Johnson shared some words via his Twitter account on Tuesday.

"RIP to a NY Knicks legend, NBA Hall of Famer, and a super nice man Willis Reed," Johnson said. "[My wife] and I are praying for his family, teammates, friends, and fans."

Reed passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 80. For 10 seasons, he served as the captain and star center of the New York Knicks and helped lead the franchise to its only two championships back in 1969-70 and 1972-73.

A physical inside presence, Reed is perhaps best known for the time he stunned the basketball world by playing Game 7 of the NBA Finals on one leg after suffering a severe thigh injury earlier in the series.

He scored the first two baskets of the game, played 27 minutes and delivered the city of New York its first NBA title. He'd win the first of his two Finals MVPs thanks to his gutsy performance and it would forever be known as "The Willis Reed Game."

The game of basketball is better for having Willis Reed in it. Rest in peace.
