Michael Beasley attempts NBA comeback, will play for Portland Trail Blazers in 2021 Summer League, per report logo 7/1/2021 Aron Yohannes,

Michael Beasley is attempting an NBA comeback.

Looking to showcase his skills for teams, Beasley has agreed to a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers to play for their Las Vegas Summer League team this summer, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Beasley, 32, hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since February 2019, when he played for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers two days later before being waived on Feb. 9.

Shortly after, the veteran forward agreed to a deal with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association. While overseas, he averaged 22.4 points and 9.8 rebounds in five games.

Beasley was on track to return to the NBA before the bubble restart in Orlando in 2020. He signed a contract with the Brooklyn Nets on July 9 as a substitute player for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Days later, however, he tested positive for COVID-19 and left the Disney bubble.

Beasley was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He’s played on seven different teams in 11 seasons, averaging 12.4 points in 609 career games.

NBA Summer League this year is returning to the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on UNLV’s campus. It will take place from Aug. 8-17.
