Nick Kyrgios Slams Wimbledon Doubles Format
Nick Kyrgios has labeled Wimbledon’s five-set doubles format as “the stupidest thing ever.” Kyrgios says he is “dreading” the long matches on the doubles court as it may harm his chances of singles success. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam where men’s doubles is best-of-five sets. "I don't know why it is best of five sets. No-one wants to play best-of-five-set doubles, no one wants to watch best-of-five-set doubles," Nick Kyrgios. The Australian says he has avoided playing the format as he didn’t want to harm his chances of singles success. Kyrgios will reunite with Thanasi Kokkinakis at Wimbledon as the pair try to replicate their success at the Australian Open. Kyrgios reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2014, aged 19, his best result at the tournament.
