DMV native and former NBA star Delonte West was arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida, on charges related to drunk and disorderly conduct, according to The Washington Post.

West, 38, was released from a Palm Beach County jail Wednesday after allegedly yelling and banging on the doors of the local police department, according to the story.

In 2020, West's struggles with mental health were highlighted in a video from Prince George's County and a picture from Dallas that showed him possibly experiencing homelessness.

Recently, he has been in Florida working at a rehab clinic that he himself was attending after receiving help from Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban following the viral photo of him in Dallas back in 2020.

West, who is a native of Prince George's County, Maryland, was the 24th overall pick of the NBA Draft in 2004. He was with the NBA from 2004-12 and played a key role in the emergence of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the late 2000s.

West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spent some time in counseling working to battle his demons.

After his career in the NBA, West has reportedly spent time homeless and panhandling in the Maryland area, which he’s denied.

The NBA Player's Association has in the past tried to help West, something his former teammate Damien Wilkins shared back in January 2020.
