Announcing at 3PM today, 4-Star 2021 Forward Quincy Allen would be a big committment for Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas. Allen is a 6’8” forward with guard-like skills out of Washington D.C.’s Maret School.

Allen is rated around the top-50 by most recruiting sites, and would likely be higher but for an injury last year. Hopefully he’ll choose Georgetown over Michigan, Miami, and Colorado.

Allen said he took a virtual visit with GU and several other schools, as recently as last month. Georgetown offered Allen in February 2019, where he reportedly said “I love Georgetown.” Allen told Hoyas247 in December 2019 (i.e., after the first defections, but before Syracuse) that Ewing planned to have him visit campus. It appears he visited Miami and Colorado.

Casual Hoya’s own Bobby Bancroft spoke with Corey Evans about Quincy Allen back on Episode 9 of Kente Korner, when Allen was starting to get noticed.

In early June, Allen told Prephoops about his Georgetown recruitment:

Coach Ewing has probably been on me the longest and hardest. He gave me my first big offer so I really respect the loyalty. He is trying to rebuild the Georgetown program and get to where they were when he was playing there. I like the style of play and the coaching staff, they seem really cool.

Of his final four school choices, Michigan was the latest to offer.

Here are some highlights.

Georgetown expects to have three open scholarships for 2021-2022 with Allen and the re-classifying Tyler Beard taking the first open roster spots as a freshman next year. The Hoyas have one scholarship open this upcoming season, 2020-21, despite adding 5 freshmen and two graduate transfers.

The name “Allen” has had solid experiences with Georgetown—at least in Allen Iverson, Terrell Allen, Anthony Allen, and David Allen.
