Defending champion Arizona women's golf advanced to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Monday.

Although stroke play will be completed Tuesday, before the start of quarterfinals, Arizona State was eliminated from the final eight Monday.

No. 4 Arizona is in position to face No. 1 USC in the quarterfinals, the start of match play. Others safely through to the quarters are Texas, Duke, host Arkansas, Wake Forest and Stanford. Auburn currently is in eighth place with several holes to play and a three-shot lead over ninth-place Illinois.

ASU, which won the 2017 NCAA title, shot 22-over 314 Monday to finish 50-over for three rounds, tied for 14th out of 24 qualifiers. The Sun Devils could potentially move up one spot depending how Northwestern finishes Tuesday.

Arizona's Bianca Pagdanganan is in third place individually with teammate Haley Moore tied for 16th. ASU's top finishers were Raquel Olmos and Alessandra Fanali, tied for 43rd.

ASU will host the NCAA Championships (men and women) for three consecutive years starting in 2020 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.
