Drake men's basketball coach Darian DeVries has been named the 2020-21 Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the year, the conference announced Thursday.
The Bulldogs enter this weekend's MVC Tournament at 24-3 and 15-3 in conference play. Those 24 wins are tied for third-most in program history, and the 15 Valley wins are tied for the most in program history.

Some more history: Drake's 24 wins mark the third straight season of 20-plus wins, the first time that's happened in more than 50 years and just the second time it has ever happened at Drake.

And, to begin this season, DeVries' Bulldogs won a school-record 18 consecutive games and were one of three undefeated teams in the country before losing at Valparaiso in early February. Drake also cracked the top 25 during that 18-0 stretch.
This is the second time in DeVries' three years at Drake that he's earned this honor. He was also named the conference's coach of the year in 2019, when he led the Bulldogs to a regular season conference title and a 24-10 record in his first season.
Loyola Chicago head coach Porter Moser finished second behind DeVries. DeVries received 32 of the 50 first-place votes.
