Gym Dogs headed to Denver for NCAA Regional
The University of Georgia gymnastics team earned a berth into the NCAA postseason and will compete at the NCAA Denver Regional held March 30-April 2 at Magness Arena, the NCAA announced Monday. The Denver Regional will begin on March 30 with the first round featuring Arizona and North Carolina at 3 p.m. MT. The winner will advance to the second round on Friday, March 31. Round two will be split into two sessions. Session I will include the No. 2 seed LSU, No. 3 seed Oregon State, Georgia and Nebraska. Session II will feature No. 1 seed Michigan, No. 4 seed Denver, and Minnesota as well as the winner of day one. The GymDogs will start the day on beam and head to floor, vault, and bars. The top two teams from each second-round session will advance to the Regional Final at 5 p.m. MT on Sunday, April 2. The top two teams from the Regional Final will then advance to NCAA Championships April 13-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 38 all-time regional appearances, Georgia has won 24 regional championships and finished second 12 times. Georgia last advanced to the NCAA Championship in 2019 through the Athens Regional with a score of 198.050.
