Jacksonville University has paused activities in its men's basketball program due to COVID-19 exposures, the athletic department announced Wednesday evening.

The school's scheduled games against Florida Gulf Coast on Friday and Saturday have been canceled and will not be made up.

However, the school said in a release that as long as no additional issues occur during the coming week, JU will still be able to participate in the ASUN tournament, which begins March 3. Games will be played at JU's Swisher Gym as well as the University of North Florida's UNF Arena.

JU did not specify how many coronavirus exposures occurred, or whether any individuals involved are experiencing symptoms.

The cancellations lock JU (11-13, 5-9) into the No. 8 seed in the ASUN tournament, provided they are able to compete, which would mean an opening-round game against ninth-seeded Kennesaw State. With JU unable to win any more games in the conference regular season, they cannot overtake North Alabama or Stetson (both 6-8 in conference play) in the seeding even if those teams lose both games this weekend.
