AZ Compass Prep (Arizona) five-star small forward Mookie Cook is ready to announce his college commitment.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound athlete, rated the nation's No. 4 overall prospect by 247Sports, posted on Instagram that he will announce his commitment Friday.

After securing Montverde Academy five-star power forward Kwame Evans Jr. recently, the Oregon Ducks are considered the overwhelming favorites to add Cook, who is also considering Gonzaga, Kentucky and the G League.

Cook, who transferred from Jefferson High School (Oregon) following his sophomore season, was previously committed to Oregon, but re-opened his recruitment this summer.

At the time, many speculated that a G-League commitment was forthcoming, but as Cook's recruitment unfolded a re-connection with Oregon became most likely.

SBLive Sports asked a source close to Cook if an Evans-Cook pairing in Eugene was likely before Evans had announced his decision.

"It's not crazy at all," the source said, laughing.

That same source added that if Evans were to commit, Cook would likely join him within a week or two.

Friday's commitment date falls within that window.

Here's what On3 national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw had to say about Cook as a prospect:

"Mookie Cook has all the tools. At 6-foot-8 he has the positional size. The broad shoulders and long arms showcase a projectable frame. Cook is a functional athlete and he has a smooth release on his jump shot with range. The question mark with Cook is his consistency. He seems to get lost in the shuffle a good amount, not imposing his will on the flow of the game. Cook has a tendency to settle for jump shots. He has the dimensions and physical traits to be a good team defender. This upcoming summer will be a big one in the development of Cook figuring out who and what he is as a prospect and player. The tools are there, the upside is still immense."
