It should be a requirement - I mean an actual written NCAA guideline - that college mascots should play a game of basketball at the conference tournaments.

The ACC did that on Thursday, and the results were spectacular.

During an intermission at the Barclays Center, every ACC mascot squared off on the court (Pitt was even invited). At one point, the Notre Dame Leprechaun tried to take a charge from North Carolina mascot Rameses.

Rameses threw a stiff-arm at the Leprechaun, leveling the Notre Dame mascot.

It was clear charge, sure.

But nobody is calling a charge in a mascot game. The Leprechaun even stood up to complain about the no-call.

We need more of this, college basketball.
