EUGENE — Oregon’s nonconference schedule is drawing closer to completion, but Dana Altman didn’t want to jinx anything. Understandably so, he’s already seen what was a marquee slate of games completely wiped out, then a second multi-team event (MTE) also get scrapped.

Altman said the Ducks, who were originally going to play in the since-canceled Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla., were lined up to play Missouri and Michigan State in Orlando before ESPN scrapped its efforts to schedule MTEs there.

“The nonconference part of it is being rounded out here," Altman said. "We’re still waiting for contracts but we do have some guaranteed games where people are coming into play us. We do have Eastern Washington, Montana, Portland State. We are trying to get all those contracts signed and all the wording right on the testing protocol. ... Then quite honestly the money is different than what it’s been in the past. we’re trying to work out equal or fair amounts to make sure that teams can travel and still make some money with it but obviously without crowds we don’t have the same budget that we have in most years.

“We’re working on an MTE. We do have something but again the contracts aren’t signed so I don’t really want to talk about it because we hope to get that scheduled that second week of the season.”

Oregon will open the season against Eastern Washington on Nov. 25. Altman said Portland State, which was cleared to have contact practices earlier this week, is scheduled to come to Matthew Knight Arena in mid-December.
