CFB-HQ on FanNation 2 days ago James Parks

The traditional 2023 National Signing Day has come and gone and with just about all of this year's recruits already on their way to school, it's time to get a look ahead to the college football recruiting rankings for the 2024 cycle.

As you may expect, it's a lot of the usual suspects when looking ahead to the future class rankings, but some upstarts are getting involved, too, and making themselves seen going against the big boys.

Where we left off: College football recruiting rankings for 2023

Three of the top 15 prospects in the 2024 cycle have made their declarations known, including consensus top-five recruit Jeremiah Smith, the wide receiver from Florida who has announced his pledge to Ohio State.

National champion Georgia got in on the '24 sweepstakes by earning the commitment of IMG Academy cornerback Ellis Robinson, and perennial contender Alabama secured in-state athlete Jaylen Mbakwe.

Here's your look at the top classes in the 2024 recruiting rankings right now.

10. Michigan (8 commits). The addition of Jordan Marshall is a vital pickup for the Wolverines, who went deep into Buckeye country to get the running back, considered a top 15 at his position by the four major services and one of the 10 best players from Ohio. A tailback with power and agility, Marshall joins other four-stars like tight end Hogan Hansen, the No. 3 player in Washington, and linebacker Mason Curtis, the No. 2 prospect from Tennessee.

9. Oregon (5 commits). Dan Lanning signed a top 10 recruiting class in 2023 and he's on pace to do it again in 2024 thanks in part to a pair of high profile wide receiver pledges: Tyseer Denmark, a top 15 at the position out of Philadelphia, and Jordan Anderson, the No. 17 player from California according to ESPN's rankings. Both have elite ball skills and can get yards after the catch. Jaxson Jones is an edge rusher to watch, not someone highly ranked by the services, but whose tape shows burst and physicality.

8. Ohio State (4 commits). The highlight of the Buckeyes' 2024 recruiting class is, of course, a wide receiver: Jeremiah Smith, the near-consensus No. 1 player at his position and a top 10 recruit nationally out of south Florida. But watch for Miami, who is still pushing hard for the wideout and has coaches who have a history with the player, too. Marc Nave and Ian Moore are two interior offensive linemen who highlight the class, which includes 4-star linebacker Garrett Stover.

7. Clemson (6 commits). A pair of excellent additions at the safety position in the form of Tavoy Feagin, a physical secondary prospect with proven quickness, and Noah Dixon, a solid tackler who can also defend well against the run. Both are top 15 players at the position nationally and complement the pickup of four-star tight end Christian Bentancur, a 6-5 target with good hands and blocking capability.

6. Florida (4 commits). A small but elite collection of talent for the Gators, led by quarterback DJ Lagway, a 5-star on the ESPN board and consensus top five player at the position and from the state of Texas with a clean release on deep and intermediate throws and a feel for running with the football. Two intriguing defensive prospects include No. 2 ranked linebacker Myles Graham from Atlanta and No. 7 edge Adarius Hayes, a pair of speedsters with power who can patrol the line of scrimmage and get to the quarterback.

5. LSU (11 commits). After a positive debut on the job both recruiting and on the field, Brian Kelly is off to a solid start in 2024, landing four-star quarterback Colin Hurley, a dynamic piece who can make off-schedule throws and is known for mobility. Ohio tight end Tayvion Galloway is top 15 at the position and boasts blue-chip receiving skill and blocking prowess in the run game, too. Top 10 ranked safety Maurice Williams, known for his polished and technically-savvy pass coverage, pledged to LSU in June 2022.

4. Alabama (4 commits). Three top 100 recruits highlight the Crimson Tide's early 2024 haul, including quarterback Julian Sayin, the No. 2 ranked quarterback in the nation and the top prospect from California; wide receiver Perry Thompson from Foley, the No. 16 wideout and third-ranked recruit in the state. Alabama's top in-state player, cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe is a consensus top-five at the position and top 10 overall prospect, boasting elite coverage skills and speed, pledging to the Tide in July 2022.

3. Florida State (9 commits). Mike Norvell teams traditionally run the ball with skill and the Seminoles built on that capacity by landing Kameron Davis, a consensus top five running back nationally with speed and power who can get serious yards after contact. Tawaski Abrams and Camdon Frier are two top 50 wide receivers, both from Florida, while Jordan Pride is Florida State's top defensive pickup, the No. 7 safety in the nation and top 15 prospect in the state.

2. Notre Dame (8 commits). Some important additions on offense in 2024 for the Irish, including a strong foundation at quarterback in CJ Carr, a consensus top 15 at the position and grandson of Lloyd Carr with a strong arm and a natural release throwing the ball. Wide receiver Cam Williams is top 10 nationally and 4-star tight end Jack Larsen is top 20. Running back Aneyas Williams, the No. 1 back in the country according to Rivals, chose ND over finalists Alabama and Tennessee.

1. Georgia (10 commits). College football's two-time defending national champion got an early start on the defensive side of the ball by adding cornerback Ellis Robinson, a consensus top 10 player nationally at any position, and two valuable pieces at safety in Jaylen Heyward and Peyton Woodyard. And at tight end in Landen Thomas, a top 25 player in America and consensus top five at the position, and linebacker Demarcus Riddick, the No. 5 recruit at the position and the No. 4 prospect from Alabama.

Football Recruiting Rankings as of Mar. 22. National Signing Day is Feb. 7, 2024.
