Arizona State junior center Dohnovan West has been selected to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy award which is given annually to the nation's top center. The product of Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, California will be a starter up front for the Sun Devils for the third straight season.

This year the trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus (PFF) to narrow down its list to the top 40 centers. PFF grades every player on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment. That play-by-play grading allowed the Trophy committee to create a watch list based both on nominations from the school and data provided by PFF. Once the season begins, schools will be able to nominate their centers for late addition based on in-season merit.

West was a first team All-Pac-12 selection last season as a sophomore, starting at guard. With the departure of senior Cade Cote, West is expected to start at center and worked at that position for the duration of ASU's spring practices in March.

It's another in a long line of preseason accolades for West, who has already been named a 2021 PFF Preseason All-America pick by Pro Football Focus, Athlon Sports Preseason All-Pac-12 First Team Selection and is ranked as the No. 5 Lindy's Preseason Center.

He was the seventh-highest graded guard in the Power Five last season, according to PFF (76.7) and tops among Pac-12 guards. West was credited with just two QB pressures allowed, tied for third among P5 guards nationally and did not allow a sack on the season. He paved the way for a rushing offense that was seventh nationally in 264.2 yards per game - 30 more than any other team in the Pac-12 and the most at ASU since 1981.

The Pac-12 is well represented on the most recent watch list. Others singled out are Arizona's Josh McCauley, California's Michael Saffell, Oregon's Alex Forsyth, Oregon State's Nathan Eldridge, Washington's Luke Wattenberg and Washington State's Brian Greene.
