Florida QB Emory Jones pukes a few times in 1st half vs Oklahoma, still looks much better than Kyle Trask

The Florida Gators offense had an awful first half against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday night, and found themselves trailing 31-13 at halftime. Star quarterback Kyle Trask has been absolutely terrible for Florida, with three interceptions in the first quarter, capped off by a brutal goal-line pick with Oklahoma leading 17-0.

Well, sophomore Emory Jones replaced Trask at quarterback for a drive in the second quarter, and the Florida offense looked much better.

Jones immediately led the Gators to their first touchdown of the game, which he scored on a one-yard run. Jones completed 5-of-8 passes for 73 yards (9.1 AVG) in the first half, and he added five carries for 31 yards and the touchdown on the ground. Trask, on the other hand, completed 14-of-24 passes for 144 yards (6.0 AVG), zero touchdowns, and the three interceptions, while having three carries for zero yards. Jones offers a running element that Trask does not, and has been more efficient in the passing game so far in this game.

However, Jones has also vomited a few times in the game, including twice after the touchdown. He’s been drinking Pedialyte on the Florida sideline.

Hopefully Jones is okay and this is nothing more than a Willie Beamen situation. If he’s indeed okay, expect Florida to feature him more on offense in the second half.
