High School Football: Calallen's Wes Danaher recognized by UIL

Calallen standout Wes Danher was recognized by the UIL in a celebration of the best players from the 100-year history high school football sanctioned by the organization. 

Danaher, who played running back for the Wildcats from 1992-95, is third in Texas football history with 8,885 rushing yards.

As a senior, Danaher ran for a single-season record of 3,562 yards and 47 touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to the UIL state semifinals.

Danaher’s high school career featured 12 200-yard games and 10 300-yards rushing performances. 

Danaher, the son of Calallen coach Phil Danaher, went on to play two seasons at SMU.

Phil Danaher, who has coached the Wildcats since 1984, is the all-time leader in Texas football history with 463 wins.
