Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has faced some form of adversity ever since he took the reins for Athens High School.

He faced a tough decision in transferring from Ohio State to LSU, and completely changed the stereotype surrounding the program’s quarterbacks within two years of being a starter.

Burrow was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and is already showcasing the work ethic he’s so well;-known for.

It’s a positive trait to have in itself, but especially in unprecedented circumstances like the ones surrounding this NFL offseason.

Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is just one of many who have taken note of Burrow’s dedication.

“The guys see his preparation and work ethic. His knowledge of an offense that he’s new to, that always grabs people’s attention. When they come in and know what to say and how to do it and all the things that are required of a quarterback in an NFL offense, he’s exemplified all these things and that gets everyone’s attention first,” he wrote. “Plus, his past precedes him. He’s got some pelts on the wall and these guys see all that.”

The quarterback has tried to stay ahead of the curve to the point he’s been asked to slow down.

“Sometimes he would say things early on and I’d say, we are not talking about that right now, let’s just get through what we need to get through here and then we can revisit that later,” Callahan said. “We will probably answer that question you have in a day or two days or three days because we are not there yet. I know you are, but we’re not.”

There’s a lot of reasons to be high on Burrow, who shattered multiple records and took home the Heisman Trophy, but many have expressed concern that Burrow is simply a product of the LSU system.

He’ll quickly get a chance to put those doubts to rest when he and the Bengals hit the field later this year.
