A serious and scary situation is coming out of Penn State this week involving a social media threat.

Penn State University police and the FBI are investigating a tweet posted by an individual on Wednesday night, threatening to commit a mass shooting at Beaver Stadium. Both sides are determining whether the threat is credible or not.

Penn State police released the following statement regarding the ongoing investigation, informing the university that there is "no immediate danger."

The account @DanieltheDuck8 was the user in question, where he tagged various Penn State accounts, including the university police and the football program, before ultimately deleting the post.

The Twitter account @PSU_Strong, took a screenshot of the threat and urged everyone to report it to Twitter and the police.

Shortly after university police responded, the user deactivated their account.

A very serious situation that should not be taken lightly. With the amount of school shootings to happen in recent years, a threat like this caught the eyes of everyone connected to Penn State, and those who spotted it acted swiftly.

Whether a legitimate threat or not, this is something to never joke around about.
