Memphis added one last surprise after signing day by announcing Tuesday it had signed three-star defensive back An'Darius Coffey.

Coffey, who hails from Winona, Mississippi, committed to Duke last week and was expected to sign with the Blue Devils, but he was not announced with its signing class. He is the third defensive back in the Tigers' 2020 recruiting class.

Coffey previously had committed to Ole Miss in June but decommitted after coach Matt Luke was fired in December. Coffey visited the Tigers on Jan. 31, according to 247Sports.

At Winona High School, Coffey was a dual-threat quarterback who passed for 2,064 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 1,655 yards and 24 touchdowns.

It's a similar background to Tigers junior safety La'Andre Thomas, who was a dual-threat quarterback in Mississippi but moved to defense after he signed with the 2017 class.

The Tigers now have 18 players signed in their 2020 class, which was ranked 75th overall in the 247Sports Composite and fifth among AAC schools.
