On Oct. 19, Strongsville (Ohio) four-star offensive tackle Blake Miller put Michigan in his top five with Ohio State, Clemson, Auburn and Florida.

Miller, rated the No. 210 prospect in the 2022 class, regardless of position, according to the 247Sports composite, told WolverinesWire in March how important academics are to him, and about how he’s not a typical in-state OSU lean.

Of his other criteria in choosing a school:

“Academics are definitely important to me,” Miller told WolverinesWire. “The head coach, the offensive coordinator, the offensive line coaches, all of them – their personalities. I tend to, I feel like I play better for coaches that I like as people as well. So just someone one who – I personally don’t like coaches that are yellers and screamers and up in your face guys. I like the coach who’s more of, they tell you what you need to do, and if you don’t do it, they’ll correct you, say, ‘You need to do this next time.’ And if you do do it, they congratulate you and tell you good job.”

Well, he was right that he’s not an Ohio State lean — he had three 247Sports crystal ball predictions indicating the Buckeyes would be his school of choice — and he ended up committing to Clemson on Wednesday night.

There’s no shame in losing to the College Football Playoff perennial power. For now, Michigan will seek other options at the position.
