Michigan adds former college QB, Youngstown State assistant to staff
A former college quarterback with long-time ties to the state of Michigan has joined Jim Harbaugh’s staff.
Josh Sinagoga, a Madison Heights native and former quarterback at Division II Northwood University, has been tapped as an offensive analyst, the program announced Tuesday.
Sinagoga, who later attended Central Michigan, was most recently quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator at FCS Youngstown State. He will work directly to help support Kirk Campbell, who was recently elevated from analyst to quarterbacks coach at Michigan.
In his new role, Sinagoga will not be allowed to participate in practices or help recruit off campus, but can be present in team meetings and assist away from the field. Analysts typically work behind the scenes, breaking down film and preparing for opponents.

A Warren De La Salle graduate, Sinagoga went on to play at Northwood, where he was a captain his senior season, earned all-conference academic honors and earned a bachelor’s degree in entertainment and sports promotion management and master’s degree in business administration. He was a graduate assistant in 2014.
Sinagoga went on to help at nearby CMU, where he served as a quality control coach and graduate assistant until 2017. He was also a GA at Iowa in 2017 and 2018, and a quality control coach at Cincinnati in 2019, working with Desmond Ridder.
Since then, he’s been a full-time assistant at Youngstown State, where he coached the receivers in 2020 and 2021 before moving to the quarterbacks in ‘22. He’s also served as recruiting coordinator all three years, giving Michigan another staffer with recruiting ties in Ohio.
Michigan football currently has nine members of the staff identified as an analyst, although the roster (and number) is fluid. College football teams are only allowed 10 countable on-field assistants, a separate position from analyst.
