The University of Central Florida has rolled out a campaign to get students to "Armor up" and get "Vacci-Knighted" — that's a play on the name of UCF's sports teams, the Knights.

As part of the campaign, fully vaccinated students can enter a raffle to win textbooks, computers and $5,000 worth of tuition and fee waivers.

"I think that's great! Obviously getting vaccinated is really important right now with herd immunity which hopefully we're going to reach so any incentive is really incredible, I think that's a great idea," student Hannah Bloom said.

According to the university, in the first week of classes, a random sampling found about 76% of those surveyed had a least one vaccine dose. Only 66% were fully vaccinated.

UCF says it's holding the raffle to encourage all students to get fully vaccinated by Oct. 15, that's the last day a student can enter to win.

In a similar move, Seminole State College will provide payments of $250 to all current students and employees who show proof they've been fully vaccinated by Oct. 15.
