As we have grown accustomed to over the past couple of offseasons, there’s now a lot of buzz yet again surrounding the future of Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers. The reigning back-to-back league MVP has made it clear that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank and that retirement is not a viable option at the moment. However, what is currently surrounded with uncertainty is whether or not he will return to Green Bay next season.

Rodgers himself has refused to shut down the rumors linking him to a trade move away from the Packers. The 39-year-old says that he has yet to make a decision on his future just yet, and that he would “understand” if Green Bay decides to ship him off in order to “move on and go younger.”

Rodgers just hopes that the Packers faithful feel the same way. The four-time All-Pro quarterback admits that he would love to retire as a Packer, but at the same time, he also hopes that there’s no ill will should he decide otherwise:

“There’s been a lot of fun dreaming about retiring as a Packer, because there’s something really special about that,” Rodgers said. “But if the competitive hole still needs to be satiated, and it’s time to move on, I hope everybody would look at that with a lot of gratitude.”

The harsh reality we’re all facing right now is that Aaron Rodgers may have already played his last game with the Packers. It’s very much possible that he ends up returning for another year, but at the same time, now more than ever, it also feels like the time has come to turn the page on Rodgers’ iconic tenure with the Green Bay Packers.
