The Big Lead: Rams 40, Bears 17

Kyler Koster and Liam McKeone write: "Andy Dalton will start for Chicago for the first SNF game of the season. NBC must be thrilled. It will take all of one game for the calls for Justin Fields to start while Matthew Stafford absolutely dominates in his first game under Sean McVay. It will be a firestorm of deep plays and touchdowns against a Bears defense that, while talented, lacks the same quality of depth and excellence in the secondary. This one will be over by halftime, and the Fields watch will begin across the Windy City."

Video: What to watch for in Bears-Rams Week 1 matchup 'GMFB' (NFL)

Vinnie Iyer writes: "The Bears are going with Andy Dalton over first-rounder Justin Fields knowing this matchup is a tough first assignment for the rookie. It's not breezy for Dalton, either, knowing his shaky offensive line with see a lot of Aaron Donald and go-to wide receiver Allen Robinson will see plenty of fellow former Jaguar Jalen Ramsey. It's also his least favorite game time, in prime time. Matthew Stafford will get to make his Rams debut against a familiar NFC North foe, taking advantage of strong support and savvy play-calling from Sean McVay."

WSN: Take the Rams to cover against the Bears

Mike Lukas writes: "Veteran Andy Dalton has been named the Chicago Bears starting QB in Week 1, so expect the offense to be run efficiently without too much flash but with enough proficiency to make the Rams work for their money, the Chicago defense led by LBs Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith being the main thing that keeps this game even close. Now that the Rams have veteran QB Matthew Stafford under center, HC Sean McVay’s team is expected to go places in the NFC, with a healthy Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods splitting the opposing secondaries in two while DT Aaron Donald’s crew make life miserable for opposing QBs, a flashy team that can’t wait to play a real game in front of their hometown crowd. The Rams are heavily favored and for a reason – they are the better team here and will most likely cover the widespread, so take them to win in Week 1 over a Bears team that can’t decide who it really wants as its quarterback."

International Business Times: Go with the Rams to cover against the Bears

Anthony Riccobono writes: "Now that Sean McVay has a Pro-Bowl caliber quarterback, the Rams have a real chance to become the best team in the NFC. The Bears will have a tough time moving the ball against last year’s No.1 ranked defense."

Play Picks: Take the Rams against the Bears

Brian Sausa writes: "The first Sunday Night Football matchup of the year will feature the Rams hosting the Bears at SoFi Stadium, which welcomes fans for a regular-season game for the very first time. There aren’t many spreads of a touchdown or more in Week 1 but Los Angeles opened at -7 and the spread has stuck there at most online sportsbooks. There are question marks for both of these teams, starting with who the Bears start at quarterback. It looks like it will be Andy Dalton in the beginning despite the clamoring for Justin Fields, though the Bears’ offensive line is probably more worrisome than the quarterback. Los Angeles has a new defensive coordinator in Raheem Morris but return one of the best units in the league. On offense, it has an upgrade at quarterback in Matthew Stafford. All things considered, it’s hard not to be comfortable with the home team here. The Rams will finally have fans in the building and are upgraded at the QB position while still boasting what’s probably a top 10 offensive line. A whole touchdown is plenty of points so if you’re unwilling, put them in your Stanford Wong six-point teaser. Despite the Rams’ defense potentially being due for regression, the Chicago offense is unlikely to keep up with Dalton unless its defense carries the day. At seven points or less, we’ll go with the Rams at home and a likely under on this mid-40s total."

Ben Rolfe writes: "The first regular-season game with crowds in SoFi Stadium should be an electric occasion. The Rams will have Matthew Stafford on the field for the first time and will be looking to make a statement to start. This stage is somewhat set for Justin Fields, but it will likely be Andy Dalton under center. That should probably tell you enough about how this game could end up going."
