Colby Wadman is expected to make his NFL debut with the Broncos on Sunday. Just one year ago, he was delivering pizzas and punting for UC-Davis.

"When I was in Davis last year, I was working a pizza job while I was living with a couple teammates," Wadman said after practice Friday. "After that in December, that's when I moved back to Thousand Oaks with my family."

Wadman spent brief stints with the Raiders and in Denver this spring but didn't make it to training camp with either team. Between May and last week, he worked out to stay in shape in case an NFL team came calling.

"I was actually just at home in Thousand Oaks with my parents," Wadman said. "I was just kicking, going out by myself, kicking every single day. I'd find some guys maybe I knew around town and just kick with them. Pretty much just mostly by myself."

The Broncos signed 23-year-old Wadman to their practice squad last week and with Marquette King (thigh) doubtful to play against the Jets, Wadman is poised to make his NFL debut in Week 5.

Tom McMahon, Denver's special teams coordinator, said Friday that he has "very high confidence" in Wadman despite his inexperience.

"He does a great job hanging the ball up - good, directional punter," McMahon said. "I like his mindset, he's very calm here. Consistent production is what we've seen so far."

Sunday's game will begin at 11:00 a.m. MT on CBS (TV map here).
