Despite most of the football world being outraged at the image of Flacco helmet-less on the ground and concussed because of an illegal hit by Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso, the NFL has decided he won't be suspended.

Most analysts came to the defense of Flacco Thursday night when the hit occurred, calling for Alonso to be ejected from the game due to a "flagrant" personal foul. While some pointed to Flacco sliding late, few were able to argue that Alonso wasn't aiming directly for the head and shoulder of Flacco, which is what draws the penalty in the first place.

With an emphasis on protecting the faces of the league, quarterbacks, it's surprising to see Alonso not get even a one-game suspension here. The hit tore Flacco's ear apart and put him into the concussion protocol. With no suspension, expect fans and analysts to be outraged at the perceived preferential treatment of different quarterbacks like New England Patriots' Tom Brady.
