Former Pro Bowl Running Back Reportedly Joining XFL
The XFL is about halfway through its return season, and it has just landed one of its most notable players.
According to the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, former Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay is joining the Seattle Sea Dragons. Lindsay was selected to the Pro Bowl as an undrafted rookie while playing for his hometown Denver Broncos.
He began his career with two 1,000-yard seasons in Denver before injuries began to catch up with him. Lindsay spent the last three seasons as a journeyman, playing for three different teams including the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins.
Lindsay is one of several former NFL players in the NFL, including fellow former Pro Bowler Josh Gordon, who also plays for the Seattle Sea Dragons.
Other notable names around the league include quarterback A.J. McCarron of the St. Louis Battlehawks and wide receiver Martavis Bryant of the Las Vegas Vipers.
The Sea Dragons are right in the mix among contenders in the XFL, currently in second place at 5-2 behind the undefeated DC Defenders. They've been able to turn their season around after an 0-2 start, winning each of their last five games.
If Lindsay can play well in the XFL, he could use that success as a launching pad for a return to the NFL.
