Jets injury report: Zach Wilson limited, is it a big deal? Help coming for the O-line? 10/5/2022 Andy Vasquez,

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is dealing with an ankle injury as the Jets get ready to face the Dolphins on Sunday in a huge matchup at MetLife Stadium.

Coach Robert Saleh said Wilson would be a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice but that his ankle injury is minor and he’s “fine.”

The second-year quarterback wasn’t on the field for the start of practice. The plan was for him to join the team later in the session — which was moved indoors because of rain — after warming up inside. Wilson is expected to play Sunday, but it’s still something to watch after he missed the first three games of the season after going down with a knee injury in the first preseason game.

Wilson led the Jets to a come-from-behind victory over the Steelers on Sunday, overcoming a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit by engineering two impressive touchdown drives and completing 10 of his final 12 passes. He was under pressure constantly, playing behind a makeshift offensive line. But he used his legs to get out of trouble throughout the afternoon, taking only one sack.

The second-year quarterback will certainly need to use his mobility Sunday against the Dolphins, because the offensive line situation is still very much in flux.

Saleh said that rookie right tackle Max Mitchell, who suffered an ugly knee injury in the first half of Sunday’s win, won’t practice this week and “probably” won’t play.

Left tackle Duane Brown, who injured his shoulder before the first game of the season, is eligible to play this weekend after missing the first four games on injured reserve. He returned to practice Wednesday, but Saleh said it’s too soon to know if Brown, 37, will be able to play Sunday.

Brown participated in individual drills early in Wednesday’s practice and appeared to be moving well and not favoring the shoulder.

The Jets have 21 days from Wednesday to add Brown to the active roster.

Brown’s uncertain status means there’s at least a chance that Alijah Vera-Tucker, the Jets’ starting right guard, will have to play another game as the emergency left tackle. It’s also unclear who will start at right tackle. And Saleh said he didn’t plan to reveal his starters until they take the field Sunday against the Dolphins.

Other injuries: Linebacker Quincy Williams (high-ankle sprain) will not practice Wednesday and is “doubtful” to play Sunday, according to Saleh. Running back Breece Hall is dealing with “nicks and bruises” and was expected to be limited. Hall was on the field for the start of practice.

Defensive end Vinny Curry (hamstring) also returned to practice after missing the first four games on injured reserve. The Jets have 21 days to activate him from IR to the roster.
