Kareem Hunt has acknowledged the severity of his situation.

According to NFL Media, which cited sources with knowledge of his situation, the former Chiefs running back entered counseling this week for alcohol and anger management.

Hunt is being investigated by the NFL for three separate violent incidents that occurred in the past year. He was released by Kansas City on Nov. 30 after video emerged of him shoving and kicking a woman in Cleveland at The Metropolitan at the 9 in February. It was later revealed that he allegedly punched a man in the face in June and attacked a man at a nightclub in January.

It had been reported that the Chiefs knew about all three altercations but were unaware of the specific details.

Hunt became a free agent after going unclaimed by the NFL's 4 p.m. ET waivers deadline on Monday. He faces more than the baseline six-game suspension for violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy and is expected to meet with league officials over the next few weeks.
