Lions get bad news about Courtland Sutton from Sean Payton
Seems like that option is dead now.
After moving on from DJ Chark, the Detroit Lions had a number of top-tier options on the free agent and trade markets to serve as the third receiver in the growing WR room.
DeAndre Hopkins' name gained some traction, but his age was a bit of a knock against the Lions giving up picks and money to bring him in.
This led to others wondering about Courtland Sutton.

Sutton has experienced an unlucky few years between injuries and playing with essentially no supporting cast, but it is hard to deny that he is a good receiver.
Plenty of teams would immediately benefit from the addition of Sutton, as he would benefit from being in a new situation, and the Lions are absolutely included in this list of teams.
Unfortunately, after it did seem like this was a real possibility, Sean Payton shut those rumors down.
While this could just be an example of a coach trying to deflect, it does make sense that the new head coach that needs to save an offense would want to keep players like Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.
Well, I guess it is back to the drawing board for the Lions. They can never have too much wide receiver talent, so look for them to be in the mix for a receiver in the draft if they don't make any big moves over the next month.
