During the past few weeks, there's been constant speculation about the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers — whether the legend will retire, return to the Green Bay Packers for a 19th season or play for a new NFL team.

The destination that's seemingly generated the most buzz has been the New York Jets. There's been plenty of chatter that the Jets would be willing to trade for Rodgers, just like they did his predecessor, Brett Favre. Rodgers fanned those flames earlier this week when he spoke highly of newly-hired Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who spent several years on the Packers' coaching staff.

It appears at least one Jets player is on board with the idea.

Cornerback Sauce Gardner, who earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors this season, tweeted at Rodgers Friday, apparently just checking in.

"Aye @AaronRodgers12?" Gardner tweeted. "Nvm, I forgot what I was about to say."

Gardner tweeted a similar message at Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who has already publicly broken up with his former team after being benched for the final two games of last season.

Clearly, Gardner knows the Jets are bringing in a new quarterback in 2023. Zach Wilson, who the team drafted second overall in 2021, has struggled mightily, prompting head coach Robert Saleh to say earlier this offseason that he wants to add a veteran to the quarterback room.

Whether that will be Rodgers or Carr remains to be seen. It appears Gardner will be monitoring the situation with keen interest along with the rest of us.
