Last year, former NFL quarterback Brett Favre was hit with some pretty horrible accusations that he used money that was intended for poor and underprivileged people to help fund a volleyball stadium, build a football facility, fund his dubious “concussion cream” venture, and compensate him for public appearances. While Favre claims that he didn’t know where the money was coming from, new evidence suggests that’s not true.

On Monday evening, Mississippi state auditor Shad White – who is facing a defamation suit from Favre along with media personalities Shannon Sharpe and Pat McAfee – shared a Twitter thread showing some new evidence that proves Favre knew exactly where the money was coming from.

“The public already knew Favre knew he was receiving public money. But the new texts make it clear Favre knew he was receiving ‘grant’ money intended to benefit people in ‘state funded shelters, schools, homes, etc.’ In other words, the poor,” White said in a tweet.

“The point is that there are multiple exchanges where Favre stressed the need for secrecy. National news has talked about how Favre said in one text that he didn’t want the media to find out. This wasn’t a one-off, transient thought, though. He said it repeatedly,” White said in another tweet.

Things aren’t looking too good for Favre.
