NFL World Reacts To Death Of Packers Legend
Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer John Brockington has died at the age of 74.
Brockington was the first player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards or more in each of his first three seasons.
Green Bay selected him with the No. 9 overall pick out of Ohio State in 1971, and he made an immediate impact. He rushed for 1,105 yards, which at the time was the NFL rookie record. He was the only rookie to be named an All-Pro by the Associated Press that season.
Brockington played six-plus seasons, all for the Packers. He retired with over 5,000 rushing yards.
The NFL world is reacting to the news of Brockington's passing.
"This is very sad," one fan said. "In that era there were few bright spots with the Packers, but Brockington was an animal."
"One of the first players I remember watching and being blown away by," said the NFL Network's Steve Wyche. "Had some great games against the Vikings when I was a little kid."
"RIP to my favorite Packer of the early years," another fan said. "He ran so hard and was a great combo with Mac Lane."
Rest in peace to Packers Hall of Famer John Brockington.
