The New York Jets have made a trade. Not the one many have been waiting on, but one that has seemed expected since last season.

The Jets traded wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. The Browns gave up a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in exchange for the receiver and a 2023 third-round pick from New York as well.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported the details of the trade.

“A new threat in Cleveland,” Rapoport claimed of Moore. “Terms: It’s pick No. 42 for Moore and pick 74.”

Moore has been disgruntled in New York and hasn’t made that a secret. In fact, as an old tweet from Danny Kelly that surfaced following the trade pointed out, it might have been very clear that it wasn’t working out for Moore in the Meadowlands.

In 27 career games, Moore has amassed 80 receptions for 984 yards and six touchdowns. The hope for him is that a new setting provides ample and better opportunities.

The NFL world reacted to the Jets trade after it was made known.

Brent Sobeleski called it a “really nice addition” for Cleveland.

Matt Schneidman contemplated what the Jets were going to do now with two second-rounders. Hmmm.

This trade had several trickle-down effects, especially the Jerry Jeudy market. The Browns were in on him, as Mike Giardi pointed out, but now they won’t be.

JP Acosta said it was a “pretty good haul for Moore.”

Jake Asman said, “Wow! I didn’t think they would trade Moore. More ammo for Joe Douglas and this opens the door for an OBJ signing.”
