Ravens snap-count analysis: Anthony Averett receives career-high workload as injuries force line-up tinkering
Ravens offensive snap counts vs. Washington Football Team 10/4/20
Orlando Brown Jr. T 57
Matt Skura C 57
D.J. Fluker T 57
Tyre Phillips G 50
Bradley Bozeman G 47
Lamar Jackson QB 47
Marquise Brown WR 43
Nick Boyle TE 38
Mark Andrews TE 37
Willie Snead IV WR 32
Myles Boykin WR 31
Patrick Ricard FB 25
Gus Edwards RB 22
J.K. Dobbins RB 21
Devin Duvernay WR 16
Mark Ingram II RB 14
Patrick Mekari G 11
Robert Griffin III QB 10
Ben Powers G 7
Ben Bredeson G 4
James Proche WR 1
Observations: Phillips and Bozeman did not play the entire way. With the game in hand late, perhaps the Ravens simply wanted to take a look at their reserve options on the interior offensive line. As a result, Bredeson saw his first NFL action. Snead and Boykin played season-low snap counts while Boyle and Ricard saw their workloads increase sharply from the previous week, indicating the Ravens were more run-oriented. We’ve come to expect the democratic rotation at running back, but it was still striking to see Ingram on the field for just 14 snaps. He routinely played 30 snaps or more in 2019. Duvernay received his promised increase in work, though Jackson targeted him just twice.
Ravens defensive snap counts vs. Washington Football Team 10/4/20
Chuck Clark S 71
Marlon Humphrey CB 71
Marcus Peters CB 66
DeShon Elliott S 63
Anthony Averett CB 62
Patrick Queen LB 57
Calais Campbell DE 55
Matthew Judon LB 42
Jihad Ward DT 39
Tyus Bowser LB 38
L.J. Fort LB 35
Brandon Williams NT 32
Jimmy Smith CB 29
Pernell McPhee LB 28
Justin Ellis NT 25
Jaylon Ferguson LB 24
Broderick Washington DT 21
Chris Board LB 10
Malik Harrison LB 9
Khalil Dorsey CB 4
Observations: With Smith limited by a knee injury, Averett played a career-high snap count, more than doubling his total from the previous week. With Derek Wolfe out, Washington received a healthy dose of experience after not playing at all in Week 3. Ward and Ellis played season-high snap counts. While Queen is pushing toward every-down status, fellow rookie Harrison has been stuck in a reduced role since he played 21 snaps in Week 1. The Ravens eased McPhee’s workload slightly, something they’ll probably look to do when they can after the veteran broke down last season.
