Sean Payton, Broncos Reportedly Sign Another Former Saints Player

If Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton plans on replicating the success he had with the Saints in Denver, he may need to bring some of his former players back. Today he added one more.

According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, free agent wide receiver Marquez Callaway plans to sign with the Broncos. Callaway has spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Saints and was their leading receiver in 2021 - Payton's last season with the team.

The move continues a trend of Broncos signings of former Saints players. Earlier today the Broncos reportedly agreed to sign running back Tony Jones Jr., a player who also enjoyed some success when Payton was head coach of the Saints.

Callaway has 83 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns in 42 games for the Saints. He has also been a valuable special teams player at times. 

With Marquez Callaway now on the team, the Denver Broncos actually have a pretty stacked receiving corps. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick combined with Callaway could make them very formidable against defenses.

Given how terrible their offense was last year, a new offensive system could work wonders in very short order.
