Steelers fall in week 11 to the Bengals

KDKA-FM Radio Pittsburgh 11/21/2022 Liam O Hara

The game started slowly in the first with both teams exchanging field goals early on for a 3-3 game towards the end of the quarter.

Then, within the last 40 seconds of the half the Bengals capitalized for the first touchdown of the game when Joe Burrow hit Samaje Perine on a 29-yard attempt with an easy route to the endzone. The quarter ended at score of 10-3 Bengals.

The game would shape up in the second quarter. The Steelers would start their drive off with some flare. Najee Harris would tie the game again by completing a 19-yard rushing touchdown, leaping over Jessie Bates to the end zone for a 10-10 score.

The two teams traded off touchdowns again with Joe Burrow starting to heat up in a stretch of 11 straight completions. Burrow hit Perine yet again for an 11-yard TD. Kenny Pickett would respond by hitting a wide-open George Pickens with a 24-yard dime to make it 17 apiece.

Burrows run was halted and then threw an interception by a diving Levi Wallace to put the Steelers at their own 44 within the last 30 seconds.

The interception would eventually allow the Steelers to go up right before the half with Matt Wright sinking a 30-yard attempt to end the half at 20-17 Steelers.

The action got started early in the third quarter by the Bengals when they retook the lead on the first drive of the half as Burrow hit Trenton Irwin for a 1-yard TD to make it 24-20.

Later in the quarter, after the offensive didn’t provide much, T.J. Watt made an unreal interception only feet away from Joe Burrow to give the Steelers the ball back in their red zone. This led to another field goal for a one-point game at 24-23 Bengals.

The third quarter ended in an exchange of field goals, so the Bengals picked one up to go into the fourth at 27-23.

The Steelers just couldn’t seem to put a push together early enough in the fourth quarter to retake a lead from the Bengals, who picked up another touchdown and field goal to blow the game to 37-23. Burrow connected to Perine for the third time.

The Steelers picked up a consolation touchdown in the minute of the game with Najee Harris picking up his second rushing TD, but unfortunately would fall 37-30 to the Bengals. They fall to 3-7 and take on the Colts next Monday.
