Rams coach Sean McVay fell on the proverbial sword by taking full responsibility for his team's Super Bowl loss Sunday night.

“I’m pretty numb right now. Definitely I got outcoached," McVay said. "I didn't do nearly good enough for our football team."

Talk about stepping forward to take ownership of a bad situation. That kind of attitude is one of the reasons the 33-year-old McVay is already one of the most respected coaches in the league after only two seasons as the Rams' leader.

There's plenty of blame to go around in any loss. And it's not like this was a debacle for the Rams. Halfway through the fourth quarter the Rams and Patriots were tied 3-3 and it was still anyone's game to win. But even if McVay is right, there's certainly no shame in getting outcoached by the Patriots' Bill Belichick, who won his sixth Super Bowl championship with the 13-3 victory.

"Congratulations to the Patriots, they did a great job. Coach Belichick did a great job," McVay said.
