If you find yourself thinking, ‘man when IS the last time the Cowboys went to the Super Bowl anyway?’, you’re not alone. Just type in “When was the last time” into Google and that’s the first thing that comes up. It does feel like it’s been a while, huh? Yeah, that’s because it has.

The Dallas Cowboys’ impressive Super Bowl records

The Cowboys have actually made it to the Super Bowl eight times, which makes them tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos for the second-most Super Bowl appearances, only behind the New England Patriots who have a record of eleven Super Bowl appearances. The Cowboys are tied with the San Francisco 49ers for third place for most Super Bowl victories. Of their eight Super Bowl appearances, the Cowboys have won five. They are beat out by the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers, who’ve won six. That’s quite an impressive track record. The only thing is, that was from the 1970s to the 1990s.

So how long has it been exactly?

The most recent Super Bowl appearance and victory for the Dallas Cowboys was in 1996 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But let’s take a look back even further to their first ever Super Bowl appearance. The Cowboys joined the NFL in 1960 as an expansion team under head coach Tom Landry. They were off to a rough start as they had losing seasons through the first five years. But once they started gaining some traction, they were unstoppable.

Tom Landry was the Cowboys head coach for 28 years and led them to the most wins in franchise history as well as two Super Bowl victories.

Who knew that would be the last time we’d see a Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl for over two decades? Yet, fans still believe they will get there again, and soon. We are indeed seeing a a more complete-looking team this 2021-22 season. Fans have been repeatedly disappointed after getting their hopes up by a good offensive line.

Dak Prescott is the current QB for the Dallas Cowboys and has led them to a 4-1 record as of 13 October 2021. Dak Prescott is the current QB for the Dallas Cowboys and has led them to a 4-1 record as of 13 October 2021.

This year, they have an aggressive defense that could make the difference. America’s Team is looking more like Super Bowl contenders than they have in a while. Good enough for a Super Bowl run? Only time will tell.
