Capitals sign F Conor Sheary to two-year, $3M extension

The Washington Capitals signed forward Conor Sheary to a two-year, $3 million extension on Wednesday.

Sheary has registered 19 points (11 goals, eight assists) in 40 games this season. He is making $735,000 on a one-year deal in his first campaign with the Capitals.

The 28-year-old Sheary has 83 goals and 86 assists (169 points) in 365 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (two stints), Buffalo Sabres and Capitals.

He was a member of two Stanley Cup-winning teams with the Penguins. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Game 2 of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final against the San Jose Sharks.

Sheary set career highs of 23 goals, 30 assists and 53 points for the Penguins in 2016-17.
