Olympic swimmer unveils Alief T-shirt at opening ceremony

Shawn Dingilius Wallace is representing the country of Palau at his second Olympics, but he made sure to show Alief some love at Friday’s opening ceremony in Tokyo.

Dingilius Wallace, one of three athletes from Palau at the Tokyo Olympics, took a picture with an Alief T-shirt inside Olympic Stadium during the ceremony.

The swimmer, who will celebrate his 27th birthday at the Olympics on Monday, graduated from Alief Hastings in 2012.

Dingilius Wallace will compete in the 50-meter freestyle on July 30. He is his country’s most accomplished men’s swimmer, holding Palau’s record in the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly.

Dingilius Wallace set the country's 50 freestyle record (26.78 seconds) at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, but didn’t advance to the semifinals.
