Formula One Driver Zhou Guanyu Flips Car in Frightening Crash at British Grand Prix

Chinese Formula One driver Zhou Guanyu was involved in a serious crash at the British Grand Prix, flipping his Alfa Romeo towards a barrier near crowds on Sunday, July 3. Video recorded by spectator Tanya Chitekeshe shows the moment Guanyu’s vehicle was struck from behind, causing it to chaotically flip over the tire barrier and towards the fence that protects the audience. Chitekeshe said the crash was “terrifying” to see live and that the audience was relieved to learn Guanyu was not seriously injured. Guanyu posted a photo of himself on Twitter after the incident saying his vehicle’s halo safety barrier saved him.
